patch- free week?

so i started using the patch around two weeks ago (i just put on my third one) and i found this sticker pack in the box the patches come in and saw that it has a week 1,2,3 and free week sticker. i was confused what free week meant. i guess after my week is up with the third patch i go week without a patch and that's when my period should come? sounds reasonable but do i do that with every box every time?

Yes, that's how it works. But unlike the pills, they forewarn you not to skip period week on the patch (whereas with the pill, you'd have the option).

It works just like the pill. 
You put the patch on, on a Sunday, and change it each Sunday. After your last week/3rd patch, you take it off and don't replace it until the next Sunday. During the patch free week, you'll get your period. On Sunday, start over with a new box and pouch 1. 
Put the stickers on the pouches the patches come in just to keep track of what week youre on. You don't really have to use the stickers, I never did.

I would check the directions but that is how the birth control pill works, 3 weeks of active pills and then 1 week of sugar pills.
