new stroller?

My friend just had her fourth child and when I announced my pregnancy she offered to give me her travel system and showed me a picture.  It was pretty cute, but wasn't In The style H and I were originally interested in.  But what the heck it was free and I figured an extra car seat or stroller would be handy.  She said it was easy for grocery trips and stuff but not good for outdoor tracks through trails or through snow (we live in Alaska).  
So I got it from her and gave her a 20 as a guestire that she appreciated.  So now we have the stroller home and it's cute but a bit outdated.  It was built in 2011.  Is it worth it to get a new stroller that we really love an would be better for the camping trips and is newer and has better safety standards? How important was it to you to to have a stroller you LOVED over one that was just ok?  Money isn't a huge issue because we had already budgeted a new stroller into the budget.

Personally, we want one to have one that we want. It never hurts to have a backup that's good for shopping trips. It leaves you free to get an all terrain that you really want and not worry about what to do when you don't want to lug it around. I would not, however, use a pre owned car seat. You don't know it's history. And check the expiration date.

I would keep it & use it for at least a year. You could use your own money for other things, and chances are you'll be just fine with the one given to you after using it for a bit. If not, it's never too late to buy a new one at a later date.

I mean, it never hurts to have an extra. And if you end up not really liking it, you can choose one yourself! I do believe that car seats have an expiration date, though. I don't know much about it, but maybe something worth looking into!
