Would you include baby books in your registry?

Question

I have about 50 items total between two registries, and my sister in law has mentioned I should add more because of how many people are attending the shower. What do you guys think about a few (2-3) baby books? Did anyone else put books on their registry? It doesn't seem to be a standard category people include from looking at online checklists, etc., but I feel I've exhausted lots of mainstream categories.

Also, opinion on adding postpartum pads to the registry? I thought that was too weird and personal- but many checklists I've found online say to include them. Thanks for your help ladies!

I did ☺. But many of my friends are fellow teachers and English majors.  That being said, books are always great!  My little. It already has a nice library collection going 😜

I asked that instead of cards people bring books to our shower. It worked out great! We have so many great baby books now to read to him and even some he can read himself when he's older.

I put a couple books I really wanted on the registry, but figured people would pick out whatever looked cute to them at the time (same with toys, threw a couple on there that matched the theme, but tried not to go too crazy). Only put 2 momma things on there (post natal workout DVD and some natural belly butter), didn't really expect anyone to get them, but somebody bought the butter. We'll see what happens between now and Saturday (can't wait for my baby shower!).

I probably wouldn't add either. The pads, because they're personal, just a weird gift. The books because people will pick those out and give them to you anyways. Books, clothes, toys, etc people enjoy choosing and buying. So adding them to your registry is unnecessary. Of course, it doesn't hurt anybody, so if you want to, go ahead.

I ran into the same issue. We're having three showers (🙄 our families life far from us and each other) and I was running out of items to add. I didn't want to add things we didn't really need. I was able to add funds to our registry (through babylist.com) and added a childcare fund and a fund for newborn photos. At first I was kind of iffy about it. I felt like I was asking for money. But people loved the idea. They were able to contribute however much they liked to something they knew we would get use out of.

I also included lots of baby toys... we had a wishlist on amazon cause we live far from our families and when our girl was born, suddenly people called us saying that there were no more items on the list- so we had to put more items on it, everybody wanted to give us something. And we def put up things that weren't common on lists but we still wanted and people gifted those to us too ☺. I also included creams, washing lotions and massage oils for the baby :)
