Finding out I'm pregnant and diabetic around the same time

Hello! So I am currently 5 weeks and 2 days pregnant. I am so excited to welcome my first child into the world. The day before I found out I was pregnant I went to the doctor because I didn't feel well. My sugar that day was 327. Blood test confirmed I have type 1 diabetes. I'm just baffled that I had two major medical events happen a day a part from each other. Has anyone else had this experience? Any advice?
