endometriosis

Hi, just wondering can you just all of a sudden develop endometriosis? I've been having cramps for 10 days around ovulation time for the past 2 months, not painful but just there. I've gone to the doctor and I'm being referred for a scan, they didn't mention endometriosis but I found it by googling (i know I shouldn't). I've always had cramp a few days before period which I read could be a symptom, they were very painful when I was a teenager but not now (I'm 31).
