Is this an appropriate comparison?

This picture is using satire and a little exaggeration to compare the stigma behind the use of contraception and abortion to the use of life jackets.
I shared this picture on Facebook today and got several mixed responses. Some people loved it and thought it's a clever comparison to show how silly it is to limit the availability of contraception and abortions, others thought the comparison is totally inappropriate. What do you think and why?

Sometimes we need to change examples for people to understand things. This is pretty great.

It's funny lol but how is banning abortion and banning contraception even comparable? 
Until sperm meets an egg, it's nothing. It's afterwards, when it's an embryo, that people who are against abortion would consider it alive. 
With this logic, might as well prevent jacking off. Wouldn't want men wasting all those potential babies
