IUD WITH hormones???

Question

So I have the Paragould IUD that DOES NOT have hormones and every since I got it out in my period is horrible! My cramps make me feel like I'm in labor contracting and I cramp when I don't even have my period. I went to my dr and we're gonna do an ultrasound to make sure the IUD is all good but she told me I have a few options one of which would be switching to the IUD WITH HORMONES. That would stop my period (stop my horrible cramping) but I've heard a lot of bad things about stopping your period and that hormones could make you gain weight. So my question is for ladies with the IUD WITH hormones. Has your weight changed? Do you ever cramp? Did your period stop? I know everyone's body is different but I just want an idea before I decide to make the switch.

I have mirena as well and I love it! I didn't gain any weight and my period is very light (or non existent). Sometimes I do get cramps, like if it's very cold outside. But other than that, no problems. I highly recommend mirena.

I switched from the pill to the mirena in July. I actually lost about 15 pounds since the hormones are so low. I also don't get a period which is great for me. I still get cramps time to time but nothing ibprophan can't handle. You might not stop getting anperiod but it will make it lighter and more manageable. The copper IUD makes periods much worse than without it I've heard. I'm sure you'll make the right choice

The copper IUD causes painful periods and cause them to be heavier. Seems like this is normal...

I have the mirena. The only period I get is a light spotting if anything and it's only for a day. I used to have very bad cramps, which is the reason why I got out on the mirena. I was so worried about weight gain because of the hormones, but I've lost weight ever since I've been on the mirena.

I have had the mirena about 6 months and it's great, I get a period like every 2 months. I get really bad cramps like 2 days before my period, and my period lasts 7 days but it's super light spotting. I wear panty liners the whole time. In my opinion the IUD is better than the pill and shot. I use to forget my pills and the shot made my hormones go crazy to the point I would bleed like a month straight and get really bad acne. I've had no weight gain at all with any of them.

I got Mirena put in a year & a half ago (I don't have kids tho) because I always had severe cramping and long periods and my gyno suggested it. After getting it I didn't have a period or cramping for 2 months then all of a sudden I got a period that was over three weeks long! It was frustrating and I had bad cramping but not as severe as before. It took about a year for my body to regulate itself and now I have my period every other month,  it's relatively short (3-5 days), and I only get cramping a day before my period starts. I didn't see any real weight gain but I try to  exercise every day.

Hey there,

I have the jaydess hormonal iud (its similar to mirena but for women who haven't had children). At first I found that my period actually didn't go away - I had it for 6 weeks straight! It was awful. Now I'm about 53 days late, my weight has gone up a bit recently (but also just started my 6th semester of uni so stress is high and I'm an emotional water). I have awful cramps tho, I don't think its realistic to say that hormonal iuds eliminate cramps.
