Extremely Heavy Period

Mine takes place on a work trip to Orlando. It was day two of my period. I typically have a pretty heavy flow on day two. I can usually control it with a few super tampons and diligent bathroom habits. But this time it was fucking Niagara. I had to upgrade to super plus tampons, and I was bleeding completely through as quickly as 15 minutes. I went through about a dozen tampons in the span of 4 or 5 hours. There was a point where my coworker and I were rushing to make our dinner reservations when I realized I needed to hit the restroom hard. I was lucky to find a family bathroom where I was able to wash my jeans in the sink. You'd think I had just murdered somebody. With my pants air drying in the bathroom, I had to ask my coworker to run and buy me a new pair of pants. Super EMBARASSING. But I was lucky to be traveling with another woman, who could at least relate. Anyway. I'm wondering if anyone else has similar slasher flick-quality gusher stories. I've had at least one other instance of an extremely heavy period. I'd love to know how common it is to lose that much blood on your period. So sound off! 

PS. I already made an appointment with my doctor. :)
