Convicted felons & US prison system
I've recently started dating a guy who was convicted on relatively minor charges (possession and sale of marijuana). He did time in jail and his whole life has been hell since. He's really opened my eyes to the whole experience that felons go through, and I'm curious as to other people's opinions.
If someone made a mistake, did their time, and are honestly trying to get their life back on track, would you avoid them or treat them differently because they did jail time? Do you think our rehabilitation programs are effective enough to support people as they transition back to "normal" life?
*I know my options aren't the best, I wish multiple choice were an option, so please feel free to comment other opinions!
