Question... Do you girls think woman still have to cook, clean, and "put out" for their man? Or do you think it should be a joint thing taking care of the household?

I just heard my bfs dad say that me and my bfs mom should be doing all the cooking and cleaning, cause that's a "woman's job" and that we should put out for the men cause that's what girls are for. 
To me that's just pure ignorance, and just some old ass ways. Times have changed. Men and woman are EQUAL! 
They can cook, and clean. And we got damn sure don't have to "put out" when they want it.

I think that both partners should do cleaning and cooking. For example, my dad won't pick up his own clothes and towels off the floor when he's done with them. It drives my mom crazy. He doesn't think it's his job, but they both work. She picks up after herself so why shouldn't he?

It's a relationship it should be 50/50. Not 90/10 or 80/20. Back in the day women would wait on there husband hand and foot. It's 2017. Women work just like there husband or some are stay at home moms to be with there kids.

If and when I have a child I want to be home with my kid(s). I have a trust issue with family/friends even strangers and I definitely don't want to have a babysitter or a nanny just because they would be spending more time with my child(ren) than I would. I also think it's a waste of money to have a babysitter. Now if your SO makes good money then I don't see why the women would have to work. I always have different views then other people.

I think that they both should do equal parts in chores such as cooking and cleaning and everyone should know who to cook, clean, etc.

I think it depends on the couple. While I do believe in equality, I also know that some women like cooking and cleaning and providing for their family. Women in my mind tend to keep households running smoothly. (Not always the case but a general statement.) There's nothing wrong with being in the kitchen. But do I think it's where I belong? No. Some men or women just suck when it comes to things like this. Personally, I love cooking. But I hate cleaning which sucks because I'm always cooking. Again it depends on the couple but no one should be forced to do anything because it's their place.

Let me start off with I believe men and women are equal. And, I don't think we should have gender norms anymore, so my answer to the question above in a very general sense would be no. Just because a woman is a woman, that doesn't mean she is required, expected, or supposed to do all of the household chores and cooking. However... every family is different, and there are many different family dynamics nowadays, as the definition of "family" is changing. Family used to mean a father, mother, and kids - where the man works and the woman makes the house and raises the kids. However, now a family can mean two moms, two dads, or just one or the other. On the topic of who should do the house chores and cook, that depends on YOUR family. I personally believe that whoever is home, should do all those things, if the other parent is out of the house working. However, I also believe that just because they work outside the home that this exempts them from helping around the house. Also, the parent out working may be the dad, but it can also be the mom - while the dad stays home. Whatever the dynamics are, I still believe everyone should help, regardless of what their roles are and regardless of how they mainly contribute to a functioning family. Just as an example, my husband works during the day while I'm home with the baby. My "job"/role is to take care of the baby and keep up the house and his role is making money to support us (I want to note that this is not to say we are fully dependent on him. I have a college degree and my husband and I both worked full time up until we had our first baby). However, I have never once had to ask him to help around the house because he does it himself. Even though he is out of the house working all day and I am taking care of the baby all day, we both share responsibilities equally. He will do the dishes when they're dirty, do the laundry when it's full, vacuum, etc. Whatever needs to be done.

I voted no (as in no, I don't think that women should be responsible for all of this). He is a grown ass man. If he makes a mess, he cleans it up. If he wants food, he can eat it. It's normal for you to cook and clean and for him to do the same. Once you join under one roof, you begin to share a household. Neither of you is superior or inferior. One does not own or boss around the other. You are equal and one could not run the household without the other. My best friends family is a perfect example; they take turns washing the laundry, cooking, doing the grocery shopping, paying certain bills, cleaning certain parts of the house, etc. one responsibility does not belong to one person. It is shared by the entire family because they all contribute to the problem or the cause so they all share the responsibility. To me, that's what's right. I know that as a woman, I sure as hell am not going to work all day and come home and clean up my mans dirty underwear and make him a home cooked meal while he sits on the couch. No way. He can get off of his ass and help.

I didn't vote because idk if it's yeah I agree or yeah he's right, it's not clear. But I agree with you. It's such bs that some people think we have to do all the cooking and cleaning and taking care of the children. I work and go to school and watch my sister so I barely have free time, yet when I'm home I'm expected to clean and do as much as I can BUT my stepbrother is sitting on his ass all day doing nothing. He just goes to school, that's it. It's not fair and I don't have it😤 I will fight and argue but there's no way I'm gunna do everything around the house just because I'm a girl when I have a ton of other responsibilities.
