I saw this on FB today. I think it was not her place at all!! I would be furious and I would be complaining to the office. I try to pack healthy lunches for my kids but sometimes my 8 year old helps pack her own and she ends up with more snack foods, it happens. This sub definitely overstepped her boundaries. She doesn't know what that child's lunchbox has in it every other day of the week.

I woulda been in that office chewin someone a new one if that were my kid. It is not a teachers responsibility to dictate what MY kid eats on MY budget.

I don't think it's a school's business to monitor any food except for things that the school forbids generally and the content of the meals that they provide. The main teacher can discuss this with you, but a signature-mandated note from the sub is obnoxious. Honestly, I don't think it was an A+ lunch, but I think the school is overstepping here.

Id request a meeting!! My son is very picky. Hes in kindergarten. Some days, lunch is cheddar cheese, crackers and fruit snacks. That note is absurd. There's ways to say things. Some people get a rise out of being nasty. Id absolutely be at the school.

This is so beyond stupid. Whether the child or the parent packed the lunch isn't it up to the parents what their children eat? Yes should children eat healthy but since when is it the schools responsibility to check what they are eating. Damn when I was in elementary school my dad would make my lunch but I packed extra snacks. I never had someone go threw my lunch box checking what I was eating. I was that kid that liked lunchables, chips, and candy. If my dad tried putting something else in there that I didn't like then I wasn't going to eat it. I think some schools are becoming too involved in parts of a child's like that doesn't concern them.

My initial reaction reading this was shocked. Maybe it was a treat day? Geez, I mean maybe if it was an everyday thing I could understand a note... but one day?

Also, with three threads in the last few days about how much everyone can't stand fat people, I find it pretty hilarious that when it is your kid eating junk, no one can have any concerns. Can't teach good eating habits if the parents send in junk every day.

I think that's a load of bullshit. My kid can have whatever I pack for them. If it's really so offensive and the cafeteria and teacher/school are so concerned about my child they can call me into the office and say it to my face. At which point I would tell them to kiss my ass and mind their own lunches.
