gestational sac only?

Hey! A friend of mine is a little over 5 weeks. She went to get a U/S yesterday and they only saw a gestational sac and they THINK a yolk sac. She is freaking because she had a miscarriage a few months ago. Opinions?

That's pretty normal for the 5 week mark. I had one done in the ER and you could see the gestational sac and yolk sac but barely. You normally can't see much til 6 weeks. I went in at 6 weeks 3 days and you could see so much better and we even heard the heartbeat.

I only had a gestational sac at 5 weeks 6 days. Went for a second ultra sound at 7 weeks and there was my little peanut moving around. 5 weeks is so early that most doctors don't even like sending u for a ultra sound that early.  Tell your friend not to stress.

I had a scan at 5+3 and only saw a sack and small yolk sac. At 6+1, saw a heartbeat!

Same thing happened to me & they ended up telling me that I had a missed abortion (miscarriage) so I had to have a D&C 😔😞 I hope that's not the case for your friend. Good luck!
