If it doesn't turn positive in the time allotted, usually 10 min, then it's negative. You can't read a test after that time. It's usually just an evap line then.

Turns out I am pregnant, you were all wrong, my doctor said if it was a negative test it would stay negative especially with first response, not change over time

What everyone else said... Evaporation line. Leaving it out for a couple days does not change your hormone levels at the time of the test. Now if you took a test a couple days later and it was positive in the allowable test time, it might have meant the hormones were too low the first time. :)

Negative tests do stay negative, they don't turn positive after the time fram, otherwise you'd be told to keep them a free days, but you can get evaps. I've gotten plenty with first response. I'm so happy you ended up pregnant! Congratulations!
