Does anyone live in Knoxville, TN?

Question

Just found out we're moving there and would really love some insight about what it's like. I lived in California most of my life and then my husband and I moved to Hawaii (he's in the military.) we've lived here for the last 3 years. Any insight would be helpful ☺️ Just looking to find out what it's like living there in general... what you like/ and or dislike about it. TIA

I don't live in knoxville. But I live in maryville/blount county  which is about I'd say 30 min from downtown knoxville and UT hospital  I've never lived in knoxville but visit there frequently. I personally wouldn't live there because you can get turned around so much. And literally certain parts of knoxville are filled with crime. Especially around the Lonsdale area. (Basically the bad part of knoxville  there's really no other way to put most of South knoxville is considered the "hood" full of drug dealers and crime knoxville is big and the traffic is awful.... I love living in maryville/blount county  though. It's kinda small but not too bad. It's pretty peaceful. Not all of knoxville is bad but it has its bad parts.

I've lived here for almost 3 years. It's the smallest town we've lived in so that took some getting used to. West Knoxville is the nicest area to live. It can feel very small but it's so easy to get around, everywhere takes 20 minutes. And it's very inexpensive with no state income tax. People are nice, and get ready for college football season because it is a big deal here (and I'm originally from TX so that's saying something.) We moved here from NY and love it. You are at times reminded your in the Bible Belt. There's not a lot of diversity in restaurants/food but the BBQ is delicious!!
