Need new birth control.

I've recently stopped taking Alesse because eight months later, I still have the worst side effects. It did what I needed, to take away my killer cramps that would literally hospitalized me. But now that I've stopped, the cramps are back and the irregular bleeding sucks and I'm really just hormonal ranting at this point..

ANYWAY! I've been considering two the most (but am open to all suggestions) which are the hormonal IUD and the patch. Very different.

My concerns, or hold backs really, are for the patch: there's only one brand, how expensive is it (bc isn't covered in Canada and I don't have private insurance), side effects..

With the IUD, mostly afraid of it falling out, perferating, implanting, all that good stuff, the costs because it sounds like it would be expensive and I'm 20, and the side effects.

I don't have a family doctor to talk to and there isn't a ton of information on these two forms. But as I've said, I am open to all suggestions (:

Thanks x
