My now-husband and I knew we were going to get married and I asked him one day last fall if he wanted to get married on New Years Eve since we had to do it before February for me to get on his health insurance. And he said something like "Sure, we might as well". Then a couple days later we went ring shopping together.

It was a very practical matter :)

Nah, I think that's one thing he should get the pleasure of doing. I think there's something charming about being asked.  There are very few things about getting married that are "for the guy" so I totally believe this is one moment he deserves to have.

I did and I guess I wish that I hadn't. People think it's weird and my husband says it made him look bad and now he feels guilty because he thinks I resent him for not asking me. If I had it to do again I probably wouldn't have.
