Settling?

I have a sneaking suspicion that my husband thinks he "settled" for me. He's said some things in passing then immediately realized what he said and tried to backtrack. I know a lot of people are going to think that it's my issue but it's not I swear. I'm not trying to hoot my own horn but I know I'm a catch! He used to get with known supermodels though, and now he's older and put on some weight along with the comments and the way he acts sometimes, makes me think HE THINKS he settled, if that makes sense... how do I know for sure? I've asked him and of course any guy would say no...
