missed period

My period is late by 4 days. I haven't taken a test I'm nervous about the results. My period has been a week late before. And I'm still getting symptoms I normally have when my period is about to come on. I'm not sure what to think right now I'm nervous and anxious. And I want to wait another week but I want to know so bad. How soon is two soon to test? Any advice?
