Anxiety, medication and pregnancy

I suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks sometimes the only way I can get through a day is with anxiety medication. I have been in therapy for a few years, and while my symptoms have eased, and I no longer have regular attacks, I worry what might happen while pregnant. With that background, does anyone know of any medication, herbal or otherwise that is safe to take while pregnant to alleviate anxiety. I would like an arsenal of suggestions before seeing the doctor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I would discuss with your doctors ahead of time. I came completely off my anxiety medication before conceiving. It's been hard, but worth it. I've seen people on here who continue to take their medication in smaller doses. It's a risk vs reward situation. Only you and your doctors can decide the best path for you. I would defiantly advise doing it before you start TTC so you can be confident in your plan. You don't want to find out your pregnant and have to make a sudden decision.

The best person to talk with is your therapist and dr. Each of us is different and in every case they weigh benefit vs risk. For many once you get past first trimester or the 20 week scan if symptoms are bad your dr will approve medication and it's up to you to decide. You'll have many people say you shouldnt and others say it saved them. So don't rely on a board to twll you what's right.

St. John's Wart, 5-htp, Sam-E. they're all herbal. I'm not sure if they can be used during pregnancy but I believe they can.
