Can you please help me understand ovulation tests?

Hi, Ladies:) I have used Clearblue ovulation tests (the smiley faces) off and on for around two years. I need to start tracking more seriously and have decided to switch to Easy@Home test strips because they are so much more affordable and I can buy them in bulk.

I used one for the first time today (around 2:30pm) and the line looks a lot darker than I expected for CD 7. Although not positive, it looks like it will be in a few days. Is there a downside to ovulating early in your cycle?

Also, how many times a day am I supposed to be testing for ovulation?
