what's in your purse? guns?

Hi all,

So recently someone posted a question asking everyone what they keep in their handbag. I was actually pretty shocked by the amount of people who had hand guns in their bags. I realize that this may be pretty controversial but as this just totally is foreign to me and blows my mind, I am really curious as to why? I am not looking to start a fight or debate here...just generally curious. Can you tell me why?

I carry one on my hip, I have one in my car, and I have one in my bed. I carry because, well, have you seen the news? Crazy people out there. I refuse to be a victim.

I typically carry on my hip but with maternity pants and a big belly.. it's kind of hard so I keep mine in my purse for now. 
I do so because I am trained, liecensed, and it's my right to do so.

I was like hell yes I carry minty gum w me all the time & was disappointed when I realized it wasn't about gum 😂😭

This is actually very interesting. I've never even seen a handgun let alone known anyone to carry one in their purse. But maybe that's a Canadian thing.

I'm so happy to live in the Netherlands when it comes to this subject 🙌🏼. No one just owns and especially carries a gun because it's illegal. When I hear about all the accidents happen in the USA like children shooting them self, their friends or parents, massive shootings at schools etc, my heart breaks. I've read an article once (don't remember which one) that people that own a gun or knife usually quicker end up hurt because they CAN use it so they will.

Well, off course living here is probably totally different than in the USA, but sometimes I wonder what the effect will be if they change the law. Short term chaos maybe but long term.. I think it could be for the better.

Yes there will still be deaths from (illegal) shootings, because it will not solve every violent crime. Over here we have that too because criminals are everywhere. I realise that it's part of the American culture and changing a law is probably easier that changing the mindset and beliefs of the people, so me saying this is not the safest thing to do in Glow I think 😂 but I do really believe this.. with all respect to the people that do carry a gun.

Im extremely glad they are illegal in England uk as you dont really hear of gun crime at all, stabbings etc yes but its not something you hear of everyday, shame they dont make guns illegal in US then the gun crime rate would drop significantly. If i did live there though i would too for my own protection.

People legally carry guns in their bags in the US for these reasons:

To exercise their right to carry.

To have in worse case scenarios for self defense.

I always have a hand gun with me because I won't allow myself to be a victim. 
Along that hand gun I've also taken several classes and shooting courses that teach you when it's appropriate to shoot, how to shoot in a high stress situation, how to handle crowded places etc my aim is impeccable, and I also go shooting a couple times a month at the range with my husband to make sure I stay in practice.

I also noticed all the women saying they had a gun in their handbag. To be honest this scared the sh*t out of me. I live in Australia, so this idea is completely foreign to me. I do get that it's for your own safety, but wouldn't it make everyone a lot safer to not have them? (Aside from police etc)?
I'm not being ignorant im just interested. 😬
