fight with friends...

So freshman year of high school (I'm a junior now) I found "my group". I found three other girls and they are amazig. We are still friends. Since freshman year, the group has grown from 4 people to 10. And I love them all to death. But yesterday, we had our first fight and I am really upset. It was in our group Instagram DM that we always use. So basically one person sent a picture of her old nails that were suuuper long saying she missed them. And then another girl replied saying "that honestly looks horrible. You could never do anything with your hands." A couple of the other girls took it as her insulting the one who sent the pic, when in reality she was just saying that in her opinion she would hate having long nails (she later confirmed this was true). So people were "taking sides" and basically blaming the one who said the comment, but I was taking her side bc I am closest to her and know her better than they do. They were basically saying that we didn't understand how the girl who sent the pic felt because we didn't know the shit she's been through, even though we do. And I understand that that comment would be hurtful to her if it was directed at her because of her past, but it wasn't and that was made clear. It just keeps getting worse and now the girl who said the comment (who I am extremely close with and would do anything for) doesn't want to be with the rest of the group except for me, and quite frankly I don't blame her. I don't exactly want to be around them either at the moment, but I don't know what to do. I want to talk it out with them but I am scared that it's only gonna make things worse since I'm not taking the side that they're on. Sorry for the rant I just really needed to get it out. I know it was probably really confusing bc I didn't use names for privacy reasons.
