should i have to work/pay bills??

Question

So i was reading a post where the girl wondered if she should pay rent and it got me to thinking.. and i really want others opinions.i have always held down my house and bills my house is paid off because i worked super hard before i started with my husband, we pay utilities,my car payment and insurance and credit cards, i just had a baby and had 2 from a prior relationship, i receive 300 in cs and 600 in food stamps. Should my husband tell me to work? I have up until 5 months ago, i had my own business but lost it.. i feel like he hates that im home but i want to be with my new born. I feel like while he was young and having fun i was home being responsible and saving so i should get a break now.

I should have probably been more specific i clearly said i worked up until 5 months ago, and basically received assistance since then, my baby is only 2 months old. This is my 3rd csection so its been a longer recovery. I also take care of my mom that is disabled due to various medical conditions, and is constantly at the doctors. I have always been independent and have never taken help from anyone, but being with my newborn in so important to me , i never had this with my other two due to working day and night with my business.

Welllllllll ........ you're receiving assistance from the state for food, correct? Kudos for having a paid off mortgage ! And I'm all for people receiving help and state assistance when they need it.. but my opinion is that, it should be temporary, while you're trying to get more stable income- so... yes, you should get A job

Personally I feel like if you're in th  position where you need assistance from the government or need money lended to you from other people, you shouldn't get to decide if you should work or not. It sounds like you're perfectly capable of working from what you've wrote. Assistance is there for people who need it, as in lost their job and are on it until they find another one for example. It's not to live off of so you can stay home. Do you want to teach your kids the lesson that they should get things handed to them if they don't feel like working? Or do you want to teach them that with hard work comes sacrifices, but you're working for everything that your babies want and need? You sound like you're fine to be working, so if I were you I wouldn't even be thinking about this. You owned your own business, you have experience, you can get a job to hep support your family

If you weren't getting government assistance I'd say stay home if you can make do with just your husband's income. Clearly that's not the case, since you're getting food stamps.

I mean if y'all are living comfortably and shits getting paid I see no problem. I know sometimes my husband wishes I would get out of the Navy and stay at home but I don't want to.

This is hard for me. On one hand if you are needing help with food stamps and you are perfectly capable of working, then maybe you should? But on the other hand, being active in your child's life and knowing what goes on with them everyday is so very important and crucial to your babies life.

So if I had to absolutely choose, id choose my baby over money any day. I think it really is up to you and how comfortable you feel with your current situation. Not everyone will agree with this view, but maybe you could go back to school if you haven't already?

Part time job would work! I'm almost a year pp and I still only work about 30 hours a week!
