Am I wrong for not giving my mom rent money?

I'm 22 and I have no job at the moment I think I might have a job offer really soon. When I did have a job I didn't give her rent money but I gave her money and bought her stuff that she wanted and needed and I bought stuff for the house.
She has never mentioned me moving as a matter of a fact I don't think she wants me to at all until I am in a serious committed relationship.

I don't understand how anyone could ever charge their children rent. I make $300 a week, and my mum lives pay check to pay check. We live together and she will never expect me to pay rent as I am her child!!

That's between the two of you. If she doesn't expect it, then I'm sure she would be happy if you were saving your money for your future. Every household/parent-child relationship is different. BUT I would expect that she's been taking care of her rent for 18+ years without the extra help and not struggling, I don't see why it would be an issue now. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Depends on how your family works. My parents would NEVER have made me and my siblings pay rent. They actually would never take money from us for any household expenses. But I realize all families aren't the same.

Talk to HER about it. You won't know whether it's wrong or not of you don't have a discussion. Most people probably think you should be giving her money but talk to her about it and come to an agreement that works for y'all.

Well I think it's all about how you're raised. My mom always wanted me to be independent and pay for my own stuff, so it was expected to me to pay my own way once I became of age under her roof. That was not necessarily in the form of rent/money, but I did watch my baby sister and brother at the time constantly. This was also close to 20 years ago so things are quite different now.

If you're grown and you have a job, you need to contribute something on the regular. Be it rent or grocery or etc. the regular part is key.
