Sleeping positions?

My 2 week old newborn is refusing to lie on his back to sleep, the only way he will go to sleep is on his stomach. And when he is awake he hates lying on his back, he has to lie on his side or stomach, is this okay. I don't want SIDS to happen when he is sleeping, but he will refuse to sleep on his back. What do I do?

I bought an aerosleep mattress protector and aerosleep bedsheets 👍🏼 Sleeping on the back is best, but on my daughters side made her finally sleep. You can breathe through the aerosleep so that makes a difference. My daughter sleeps on her tummy from the moment she could roll at 3 months. Aerosleep is definitely the best purchase ever. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼

I had the same problem. But I am a little lucky that my baby has a very strong neck and knew how to turn it fully. Yet, I only let her sleep on her stomach by herself during the day when I can watch her. At night I put her on my chest in the NuRoo or the Moby wrap, so she can't choke. Good luck.

My son is 12 weeks and still hates his back. I went with co-sleeping. So he's on me on his tummy. But listen. A baby has to sleep, you have to sleep. Having a baby sleep in your room reduces the risk of SIDS. And you won't be the first or last mom having baby sleep on his tummy.

My babe is only 5 days old and loves side sleeping. I asked the nurse in the hospital and she said it was ok.

I asked my pediatrician the same thing when my son was first born. He would cry so hard when I would put him to sleep on his back. It turned out he had GERD and would cry because the acids were creeping up his throat and causing discomfort. He slept best on his left side. Which sleeping on the left side of the body actually promotes good indigestion because your stomach is not above your esophagus and won't leak stomach acids. Anyway, the doctor said as long as you keep an eye on baby, and make sure his sleeping area is not full of loose blankets or plush toys, there was no problem with him sleeping on his side or stomach. Till this day, he never sleeps on his back.
