Trying to get pregnant

I'm 20, been off of birth control for about 2 years. My fiance and I have been trying to conceive but it's just not happening. Is it possible I'm no longer fertile? My periods have been regular, this month I started a week early Jan 7th and it was very heavy, stopped around the 22nd and would only bleed when I went pee and then continued to be very heavy to the point where I soaked through a tampon and pad in 10 minutes until yesterday Jan 31st. What's going on?
