Ready for solids?

Question

My pediatrician at our 4-month check up said to start giving my LO solids now. He said if I wait until 6 months she may not be as interested in eating solids. I read the American Academy of Pediatrics said to wait until 6 months.  Wondering what everyone's experience is with solids and what your pediatrician is recommending.

Alot of pedis say you can start solids if you wish. But absolutely wait until 6mo. Here's a good reference

Our doc said 5-6 months. My baby is showing interest (too much interest, get your slobbery hands off my cookies) and he turns 5 months next week so I think we're going to start next weekend. He's also starting to do the tripod sitting and he's had fun with the little drops of soup I give him every once in a while.

I just had my 4 month appointment. She said if I felt comfortable and my daughter was showing signs of interest that I can start her on solids. She also said that there is nothing wrong with waiting until the 6 month mark if I felt that my daughter was not ready or she didn't show interest when offered.

My ped told me rice cereal at 4 months (at her 4 mo check up) only because she's nursing and isn't gaining weight.

Mine recommended us to start now at four months. He said my son is getting in four teeth on the top and three more on the bottom that he can see the bumps for already, and that's on top of the two he has cut in already. He said that we should start because it'll help him get the teeth cut in and get used to chewing, we were told to not purée everything and just smush it up no larger than my sons thumb. We've given him avocado and sweet potato so far and he is doing really well. He can sit up, he chews his food, he doesn't spit it all out, he wants to touch it until he realizes its squishy; you just have to wait and see what your doctor and your baby both seem to think is good for baby.
