What is your opinion about Jesus Camps?

I just watched the documentary "Jesus Camps". I do not believe in a God, but I respect all beliefs. I even find it interesting so once in a while I read or watch something about (a) religion. But this documentary, it shocked me! I really find it scary. These Camps are in my opinion brain washing their kids.

In the beginning of the documentary there was a comparison to the "brainswashing" muslims, that they did the same but that that was wrong. Because they had the truth. Children were telling that they weren't afraid to die for God, parents homeschooled their kids because at public schools they didn't tell the truth. Believe what you want to believe if that is what makes you happy of course, but what is your opinion about this? Is this normal? Should this be allowed?

I am a Christian(Catholic) and saw that documentary and it made me very uncomfortable... I know a family who are Evangelicals and they are the same way with their children-home schooling, the camps, they call themselves "warriors". They are extremists and I agree they are all totally brainwashed(adults and children alike). The children I know from the family are so completely disconnected from the world and reality outside of church and their home. They have no ability to think or act for themselves

I haven't seen that documentary so can't really comment on it. However I don't think homeschooling is bad, if done properly, and neither is teaching one's own kids that their religion is the right one among all the others. One needs to be sure they are following the right religion to be a part of it and to teach someone else about it.

Is "Jesus Camp" something different than say, a Church summer camp?

We did "Vacation Bible School" in summer when I was a kid, where we went and learned about God and did crafts and had songs etc. Is there a different kind of Jesus camp?

I also went to a summer camp for a week or two that we went to Mass every morning, then had sports and games and crafts and all.

These camps are cult like. The emotional aspect is inappropriate and abusive. These are children that can't choose for themselves. The parents are unaware or believe it's righteous. It creates chaos and fear.
