What do you do if your own mom or MIL had a cold at the time of delivery?

I'm just curious as to what you would do if someone as close to you as your mom (or as pushy as a MIL) had a cold(or fever) at the time of your baby's birth? I'm not even close to giving birth but I feel like I would be so upset if my mom wasn't around for the birth/the days after 😭

I'd have her wash her hands and wear a mask if it was only a cold. Fever is different, I'd have her stay home until she was better unfortunately.

I would ask they to not see the baby until their healthier. If they respect you they'll wait. I wouldn't want anyone sick near my newborn

Personally id make my mom wear a mask and she wouldnt be able to touch the baby but there is no way i could go through labor without my husband and mom with me. MIL is different for me because i dont let anyone else in the room anyways but i wouldnt let her hold the baby either.

Ugh my mom wasn't feeling well the day I gave birth to my daughter. She only held her for a few minutes. The next day she found out she had bronchitis and pneumonia. She didn't see the baby for like 3 weeks.  I had a horrible recovery and couldn't be alone for the first week! It was awful not having my mom there for me :( so tell them to stay healthy! Haha I already told her she better stay healthy this time around.

My mom had the beginning stages of bronchitis (she didn't know it was that until late after the birth though) she really only held him once (she wasn't super sick then) but the next day she kept her distance because she started feeling bad.

I wouldn't want them near. Actually, the hospital that I am giving birth in currently have visitors restriction so only the birth partner and siblings of the baby can come visit provided they are not sick.
I have less than 5 weeks to go so if it is still in effect, we may have no one coming to the hospital even if they are not sick.
