getting rid of piercing keloids!?!

Hello! I've recently grown a keloid on my belly from a belly button piercing. I'm freaking out because I hate how it looks, i went to the doctor and she recommend to take the piercing out to let it heal and continue using sea salt, aloe vera, and mederma. Any other things you might recommend?!!
