when should I start testing??

This is our first cycle ttc and tracking ovulation so we're constantly researching questions lol! According to my chart af is due on 2/9 this month...during my fertile window I was opk testing almost every day, the line was faint my entire window and I tested opk positive Monday morning and late afternoon so I am assuming I ovulated Monday. Could have been before because I forgot to test Sunday 😕. If I count Monday as my ovulation day, af starting the 9th would only put me at I think 8dpo. I know some early pregnancy tests can detect 4 or 5 days before your missed period but isn't 8dpo already too early so testing even earlier wouldn't even come up at all?? Advice on when I should start testing!? Praying for a bfp!!! 💜

If you had a positive OPK on Monday through the afternoon you probably ovulated on Tuesday. The OPKs test for the hormone that releases the egg, which happens 12-36 hours after the surge. 8dpo is very early to test but that is when I got my positive for my son. If you test early don't be discouraged if you get a negative. I like to test all the time, it almost a compulsion for me 😋, so I have taught myself to expect a negative. That way I'm not disappointed and the the positive is an even better surprise.
