when to switch car seats

My son is 9 months and almost 24 pounds. My Eddie Bauer car seat has a weights limit of 35 pounds but my son looks like he is getting too big for it. Should I switch out to another car seat or should his carrier be fine until he is 35 pounds?

What's the height limit? Our infant seat was 29in and 22lbs- we already switched at 6 months because she's about 27 inches and babiesrus is having a sale.

My daughter is 5.5 months and 18 lbs .. i just switched her .. her infant seat goes up to 35lbs but she just looked like a stuffed sausage .. and even in her new convertible seat she looks huge .. she is big for her age in the 96th percentile

I've heard babies tend to grow out of a carseat's height limit before they grow out of its weight limit. You may want to check that and see if that's your situation. It might be time to switch, even though hes within weight

If you're going to a convertible car seat, it really doesn't matter. As long as the baby can still rear face until 1-2 years of age.

The seats have both a height and weight limit. It should be clearly labeled on the seat. As long as he's within the height limit I wouldn't worry about his feet hanging off, they hang out of a convertible seat too. Proper head placement is what's important for safety in the infant seats,
