Should I be worried?

I have been with my boyfriend for almost a year. I told him I loved him around the 6/7 month mark and he hasn't said it back. I didn't really mind for a couple of months but now I'm starting to get worried about it and think I might be more invested in the relationship than he is. I am his first serious girl friend and also the first person he has slept with. I'm 22 and he's 28. I have a lot of strong feelings for him but am also afraid of not having those feelings reciprocated by him. I just don't know if I'm over thinking this situation or if I should be legit worried.

Sometimes men have a hard time showing their true feelings. It's much easier for females to express how we feel. I wouldn't stress too much. Have you tried talking with him about it?

So my boyfriend first told me he loved me around month 5 when he thought I was sleeping. He didn't say I love you to me consciously until a little over a year. But I knew he loved me (and not because he told me when I was 'sleeping'). Honestly it's the way he treats you. If he treats you like he loves you then he probably loves you. My boyfriend went through a very rough relationship prior to ours and he just had a hard time expressing his feelings and commiting that way. It took time.

You can try talking to your boyfriend about why he hasn't said it, but personally I'd just wait it out. As long as he's acting like he cares and acting like he wants to be with you well he probably does. Actions mean more than words anyways. I love hearing 'I love you' but when he shows up with flowers because it's Tuesday that's what I love so much more.

Granted that goes the other way- if he's not acting like he's committed then he probably isn't. I'd talk to him and see where his head is at. But if things are all good except for the fact that he hasn't said the words then I'd just wait and give him time. He probably just wants to be sure he really does love you before he says it.

My boyfriend is 5 years older than me (21&26) he's not an emotional person really. It takes a lot to get anything out of him. After a year of being together I told him I loved him and he didn't say it back to me. I can't remember how long it took for him to finally tell me he loved me. I'm also his first serious girlfriend. He only a had a few prior to me but both relationships neither of them were faithful and it was off and on. And even now he hardly says he loves me. He's just not an affection person like that. He shows me he loves me by doing little things for me often. Just talk to him about it to see where you stand. But also think that maybe he just doesn't really know what to do because he's never been in this situation and he's just scared  and maybe he just doesn't express his love the same way you do.

Should I be worried?
