Faulty Pregnancy Test

I bought a DT store brand pregnancy test since they've worked when confirming my other two pregnancies just fine, well they switched to a different brand recently, and I was reading a lot on this new cheap brand test, and heard a lot of bad things about them. Well I decided to try one of them out now since I purchased 3 of them and wanted to see if it'd confirm my suspicions of being pregnant, well the time wait is 3 minutes. I waited and after 3 minutes, the control line showed up broken, it wasn't solid, and it wasn't dark red/pink like I'm used to seeing on the other tests. Is this a faulty test? Should I retry with FMU and if it does the same thing, switch to a different brand??
