Minimalist

I'm thinking about converting into a minimalistic lifestyle but I'm having a hard time thinking about how I would enjoy myself. I get pleasure from watching reality tv, taking selfies, and playing on my cell phone. I know that because I was born & raised in America that this is why I am accustomed to THINK that this is the only form of entertainment  but finding joy in other things outside of technology & the finer things in life frightens me! How can I take that extra step into a new lifestyle?

You can still enjoy all of those things - the real point of minimalism is just to remove the things from your life that you actually don't need. So take a long hard look at all aspects of your life, and get rid of the junk :-)I say start small. Cut back *a little* with how much TV you watch, or how much time you spend on your phone. Set a budget for 'fun' spending. Declutter your bedroom. Small things. Personally, I've donated a lot of my things. It just felt better that way; if I'm not using it, I want someone else to. I also really try not to waste food (I love to cook!!), So meals require more planning so things don't go bad. Feel free to ask me specific questions; I'm rambling ;)

Minimalism isn't about "not having stuff"; it's about not having excess stuff. If you're using your TV everyday (to watch realtiy television or not), keep it; if you don't use it ditch it. Go through your closet. What haven't you worn for the last two years? Donate it! That's what minimalism is to me and a lot of other people I know, in relation to things. In relation to your electronics, leave your phone at home sometimes! You'd be surprise how litttle you need it. Hope that helps!

I think it's important to find the balance.
