When to do a maternity shoot

Thinking I'll do my maternity shoot in April, when I'll be 7 months pregnant. I'm due mid June. I don't think I want to wait until the very end because I don't want to be too huge and swollen. If I were really thin it wouldn't matter but I'm not so I'm trying to avoid that dreaded beached whale look. I also don't want to do it too early and my bump be simply underwhelming. Being a FTM I'm just not sure what to expect. Can I see your bumps anywhere between 6-9 months? And please specify if you're a FTM as well, as I expect that will make a difference. I know everyone's bump is different but I think this will help! TIA!
