Does anybody have a good way that I could bring up getting birth control to my parents?

I'm 15, about to be 16, and I really just want it to help regulate my periods, but I'd also like it so that when I am ready to have sex I know that my chances of pregnancy are next to nothing. My mom has a "wait until marriage" attitude towards sex because she regrets not waiting herself, and I understand completely where she's coming from. I just don't want her to get the wrong idea or see me differently now that her baby bird is getting ready to leave the nest. I'm just looking for some advice on how to bring it up or some things I could say to convince her.

If it can wait, start with complaining about your period and how you never know when its coming (without making it sound like you could be pregnant) and just make it known that its a real hassle to deal with your period, then start mentioning how you wish you could somehow fix it, then mention that you tried to find ways to fix it and the main thing was going on birthcontrol. Its not the most mature way to do it. But if it means youll be able to get yourself some help then its fine

Just be honest and upfront! If you act wierd about it she'll think something's up, and start assuming. All you have to do is explain why you want it, and how it will help you physically. I went through the same thing! Good luck!

I would bring up the medical aspect of why you want to be on birth control, and also bring up that if the time came for you to have sex that you want to be as safe and smart as possible. Ask that she please respects your choices, but just because you are making the choice to go on BC doesn't mean you'll be having sex. I know it's a tough subject :( best of luck!
