How is a MMC diagnosed?

I've seen several girls share their stories about missed miscarriages (I was unaware that this was possible before that). I'm not going to have a scan until week 12 (currently at 6+5)....how will my doctor know that my pregnancy is still viable and not a MMC? Blood HCG? Fetal Doppler? The suspense is killing me! Any info would help to put my mind at ease. Thank you!

I had 2 ultrasounds prior to finding out i had a mmc which showed baby wasnt growing properly and had no heartbeat. 2 weeks after the last ultrasound i started having brown spotting that turned into red spotting and went to the er and was told i was miscarrying. The baby stopped growing at around 6 weeks and my body didnt realize it until i was 11+3

A missed miscarriage is diagnosed by a variety of combo of things. The number thing is your baby is passed 6weeks in growth but had no heartbeat. Another thing, is your baby is also not measuring to your LMP or your baby did not grow from previous ultrasound ( for example: I measure 6weeks at one ultrasound and a week later only measured 6w3d). The dr can also look for blood flow and a decrease in HCG.

I had a mmc a 3 years ago, went to my 12 week scan thinking everything was ok.. I had no pregnancy symptoms but I was the same with my previous 2 children. When they did the scan there was no heartbeat and baby had stopped growing at 7 weeks. I'd had no bleeding or pains or any signs. I had to have a d&c the next week. When I became pregnant over a year later I had a miscarriage at 8 weeks I knew about this one as I was bleeding and cramping. I'm now 38 weeks pregnant. Its so scary all the way through and such a worry. But I would say try not to think about the bad things that can happen and stay positive otherwise you will drive yourself crazy. I had a mmc. Went in for my first scan at 11+4 and the baby measured 6 weeks with no hb. Had a second scan A week later to confirm no growth and schedule a procedure. Ended up miscarrying naturally at 13 weeks. I don't know how I knew but I did. The entire pregnancy I felt like something wasn't right but people kept saying I was crazy. Mothers intuition I guess. I'm currently a little over ten weeks now and feel different this time around. We got to hear the heartbeat yesterday which was amazing. When is your first appointment?

Don't do this to yourself. To be honest, if it happened, the baby just wouldn't be there. In the case of a mmc, there's literally no sign.  little education is a terrifying thing, no? No one ever really mentions that a positive pregnancy test doesn't mean a viable pregnancy. When you go in for your apt, your baby will be there and you'll see.and hear him. Or he won't be.  I don't want to.scare you but I don't want to bullshit you because you clearly know whats what.
