IVF? SOS!

My husband recently had a sperm analysis and his morphology is at 1%.  It looks like IVF will be our best option to conceive.  My question is, how does anyone afford it??  My insurance doesn't cover a single thing and there is no way we could afford this treatment without going in to debt.  What if it doesn't work the first time and you need to do a second treatment?  I'm freaking out thinking about how much money this will amount to.  Any advice is appreciated.

Talk to an RE since everyone's odds are different. If they do IVF with ICSI and you are young with a good number of follicles you may need just one round and save and freeze the remaining embryos. We got terrible odds, like 10 to 20 percent because I have a chromosomal problem. However on our first round we got 5 embryos and after screening one was normal. Because I am only 30 and the testing showed I had great response and uterine lining once we had the embryo we were given 60 to 70 percent odds of a successful pregnancy. I paid for a separate insurance so we did two more rounds anyway. The first embryo we implanted took and I am 16 weeks pregnant now. Find out what they think your odds are of success so you can make an informed decision about the risks. Also see about special packages or plans offered.

We took out a second mortgage to pay for it. We ended up having to freeze all so we had to do a frozen transfer also. All and all ended up being around $20,000. Our transfer worked and I'm now 7 weeks

Well you have a more likely chance of failing then succeeding the first time so I think you need to be prepared for that. Some people have insurance some people pay out of pocket. In Canada insurance doesn't cover ivf so we paid out of pocket, took 3 full ivf cycles we spent just over 60k. My husband also has 1% morphology but if all other parameters are normal most fertility specialists don't consider this male infertility. We have conceived naturally with 1%.

Have you looked at different insurance companies? Aetna insurance offers fertility insurance. They will pay all but $600 if I choose to do IVF.
