Next step?

Question

Ok so we are getting checked after 2.5years ttc. So far we have...

✔got semen analyse, came back good
✔thyroid test came back good
✔hsg test came back "perfect"
✔been cleared for PCOS and endometriosis 
✔AF is very regular 
✔Positive OPKs
✔progesterone test is at the lab

Does anyone know what they could  do if my progesterone levels come back good?

Answer

If progesterone comes back normal, don't accept the diagnosis of "unexplained". There is lots more testing to do:

​Antiphospholipid antibodies
​Anti thyroid antibodies
​Natural killer cell activation
​Prolactin
​Antinuclear antibodies
​Th1/Th2
​Plus waaaaay more immune tests but those are a good start. Your RE may not even know what those are. Please read "Is Your Body Baby Friendly" by Alan Beer.

I have just gotten all of these test results back too. They are starting me on femara and an ovulation trigger shot. He is tying this 3 months and on day 12 of each cycle I have to go get an ultrasound . He said if not successful he will try 3 iui's.   Good luck .

I have basically had the same list of things and I'm now on my third month if fermara and trigger shots and progesterone supplements. If this month doesn't work, my doctor wants to do a hysteroscopy as she thinks I may have a polyp. So maybe ask about the possibility of something obstructing implantation if your 3 months don't get you the BFP.  We skipped IUI this month because of her thought of there being something obstructing implantation. I wanted to get the all clear before we paid for the iui only to find out her suspicions were right. Hope that helps.

It could be just "unexplained infertility" which isn't a very satisfying answer. Press your doctor for any other tests. An autoimmune panel? Your amh level? I'm just brainstorming here.

Ask your doctor what the next steps are. In my experience with infertility, the next steps are pretty cookie cutter/standard no matter what the diagnosis. It goes: IUIs, medicated IUIs, and then IVF.

I have had all of the same tests and maybe one or two more. Our specialist did a ton of blood work on both my husband and I that came back fine. My next step (starts this week) is a telescopic test to count my egg supply on Cycle day 3, take femera cycle days 3-7, trigger shot when I get a positive OPK, and IUI the following morning.  Good luck with your process!
