Okay to get a tattoo while breastfeeding and weeks after c-section?

I'll be having a c-section around May 8th and my birthday is May 21st.. I am really wanting to get a tattoo with my girls names on it for my birthday but I think that will be to soon? I'll be breastfeeding also. 
Here is what I'm wanting to get. I would be getting it at a shop that I research to make sure they follow the rules and are clean..

I'll ask my doctor next week about it..

It's not a big deal if I have to wait just wasn't sure on the wait times after and if it was even okay to get one while breastfeeding which I'll be doing for at least a year.

My doctor recommended I wait till 6 months so my son had all his vaccines that would cover any health risks with getting a piercing. My tattoo artist told me he wouldn't tattoo me until I was done breastfeeding. They just don't want to risk anything happening to the baby. Not saying that something is definitely going to happen just it's easier to make sure it doesn't happen and that they won't get sued if they just don't tattoo you. A reputatable tattoo artist will tell you no. If they don't. I would probably go find a new tattoo artist!

I would be inclined to wait until breastfeeding is finished and csection healed. Infection is possible from either tattoo or csection and you'd have to stop breastfeeding if that happened.

While you have lots of info from other ladies here, I also wanted to point out that your body is still adjusting back after pregnancy.  You still may not heal correctly that soon after birth, especially if your body is focused on healing you csection incision.

Ask your dr but I believe they want you to wait at least 6-8 weeks especially since any type of risk of infection while healing from major surgery can be dangerous.
