I'm a first-time mom, no complications with pregnancy up to this point. Went to my 20w anatomy scan 10 days ago and was told my cervix had shortened and dilated to the point I needed an emergent cerclage in attempt to save the pregnancy. Needless to say, I was a wreck hearing this news. The next morning I had the cerclage placed successfully by a wonderful high-risk MD (was told I was 4cm dilated with no measureable cervical length and membranes buldging) and now am on bed rest presumably until delivery. My first check up after the cerclage looked really good and my cervix was closed and measuring around 3cm but I'm still feeling overwhelmed by it all and hoping there are others out there who can share their experiences with cerclage and/or prolonged bed rest.
