Newborn sleeping in own room?

I am expecting my first baby soon and I want to know what everyone's opinion is of having the baby sleep in it's own room?

My room is very small and I don't have the room, I would much prefer him in his own room which is literally next door to me so isn't a hike to get to. I also have a video monitor so I will be able to see him ☺

Do what works for you! My first son slept in his crib, in his room, next to ours...from day 1!  BTW...he's now 6 years old and is (always has been) a pro sleeper!

They r saying to keep baby in room now for up to a year..we got a bassinet for the baby

Our son will sleep in this for awhile or in a pack n play beside our bed but during the day will nap in his crib in his room im more at ease knowing he isbclose to me and my husband we are ftp and i have lost a bother to sids already so this mama is staying in her personal comfort.. Do what makes you comfortable at the end of the day and what you feel is best!!!

Our first child was in his own room since the day we came home from the hospital. Use a baby monitor and you'll be fine. This little babe will be in their own room too right from day one.

We are still ttc but my husband said he prefers the baby to be in their own room day 1 (literally right across the hall). The only reason I would want them in the same room is to make it easier for middle of the night feedings so we'll see. I also have multiple friends who are new mom's that have done the same.

We kept our first in a pack n play next to our bed for a couple months and then he went to his crib in his own room. Planning to do the same with this one. I liked it because not only do studies show having them room-in reduces the risk of SIDS but it made it so much easier/convenient to do middle of the night feedings.

That being said, you have to do what's right for you.
