Chemical Pregnancy VS Miscarriage

Can someone explain the difference to me? I was 5 weeks, 5 days yesterday, AF was due on February 2nd but did not arrive. Got my BFP on February 11th, 9 days late, but started light brown/pink mucous-y discharge on February 12th. So, do I consider this a miscarriage or chemical pregnancy? I haven't been to the doctor yet, was waiting until 6 weeks (tomorrow) to call for my first appointment, but that doesn't seem like it's going to be necessary. I am so sad, and I feel stupid for getting excited. I'm 34 and have fibroids, been TTC our first since September. I should have known better than to get my hopes up.
