Please HELP!

So is anyone familiar with getting off of oral contraceptives? I was told by my doctor that every now and then it's good to take a month off of it so that your body can run it's natural cycle. Well, I am currently 2 days late for my period after taking a month off of the pill. My boyfriend and I have had unprotected sex since then but were very cautious. Has anyone ever experiences a delayed cycle after stopping the pill?
