Never thought it would happen to me..
Today started out as a semi-normal day for my husband and I. Around 6am I was concerned about a terrible headache I'd had for four days as well as swelling in my legs, feet, face and hands. After some advice from my mom I decided to check my blood pressure. To my surprise it was 174/106 (I've never had blood pressure problems before). I had a doctors appointment at 10am, so I figured I would just wait and talk to my OB about it at my appointment. Around 8am, I just had a gut feeling that something was wrong. I didn't want to wait any longer and risk something happening to myself or my baby. My husband and I decided to go to the ER, just to be safe. When I arrived at the hospital my BP was 174/116 and they quickly started me on some medicine. I then found out I have severe preeclampsia. I had read stories about ladies having preeclampsia, but honestly never thought it would happen to me... After an ultrasound we saw that our little girl is also breech. We had to be transported to a different hospital with a better NICU so that we would be somewhere capable of caring for a 28 week baby. The goal is to keep my blood pressure below 160/105. I got another steroid shot a little bit ago to make her lungs stronger in case the safest option for us both is to go ahead and deliver. The doctor we spoke with said that their goal is to keep her in as long as possible which means keeping me here to be monitored. So if you read through all of that... I am asking for prayers for my little family. Please pray that everything will be just fine with both me and our baby girl and that she continues to stay in a little longer. Thank you in advance.
