Kitten help!

Just got a kitten and I'm wondering about some things. Most times she doesn't want to be touched she'll run away when she sees your hand coming, which I know is normal for a kitten who is so new to a new home. But other times she loves to be petted and scratched and she's super friendly and loving (but at first she still seems like she doesn't want to be touched but after a little bit she finds out she likes it and stays around me). So my question is if I want her to be not afraid of being touched more often, should I leave her alone or should I hold her and pet her more even if she may not seem to want it? What is the best way to make your cat more comfortable with you?
