I was adopted when I was much older so unfortunately, I remember a lot about my bio parents. In the case of my adoptive dad, the difference is Night & Day: the latter has shown me by example how to lead a life of integrity, kindness and fun & happiness. In my mind, one might as well have been a sperm donor whereas my adoptive dad is a real father.

My first daughter isn't actually to my SO but he's been in her life since she was a baby. He treats her as he's own. And now we have another daughter and now a son on the way.

I got with my boyfriend when my daughter was one. She always knew him by his name. But one day she made the connection that he is the father figure in her her life (by seeing other children and their fathers) and called him dad. At first we were hesitant, but he liked the feeling. He was that figure to her. So we allowed it. And now she doesn't ever remember calling him by his name. Just as daddy. He is all she knows. And I could ask for a better man to share her with. He is awesome to her! And we love him! Sometimes I think she loves him more than me lol.

Absolutely my husband isn't the biological father of two of our 4 soon to be 5 kids and he has raised them for almost 6 years they even started calling him dad and last night they asked for him to adopt them their 11years old and almost 9 years old.  Their biological father is a drug addict who can't stay out of jail and barely has any contact with them at all.  We plan on starting the paperwork Monday

I am in this situation. My ex was terribly abusive to me and tbh a terrible father while we were together. He has gone months on end without contacting the kids, never pays child support, and now he has to have supervised visits because he's still irresponsible when he sees them. I'm remarried to a man that told me he wanted to be there for me AND my kids, and he supports all of us and treats them like they are his own. I don't see what the issue is, I'd much rather have my kids see him as a father figure instead of thinking their bio dad is normal. They still see their dad occasionally, but their stepdad is the one there for them everyday and shows up to their school programs and helps with homework. How could that possibly be a bad thing?

My parents divorced before I was a year old, mom remarried when I was 3 been calling my step dad my dad ever since because that's what he is to me my dad. He raised me he gave me away on my wedding day. If something were to happen to my husband and I remarry, I want my kids to feel comfortable enough to call him dad as I was with my step dad.
