Which deserves more funding? Why?

In a perfect would we would have both equally funded, but for argument's sake pick one and tell me why it deserves more than the other.

I choose the arts because they're unappreciated and so completely under funded. Sports teams at my school got new uniforms every year while theater's costumes were falling apart at the seams. All costuming, props, and makeup were provided by parents and students. The arts had to make a collective decisions to fix the floors on the stage or use the funding for something else. Our choir program was lucky if we could get new dresses every 5 to 10 years. Our teacher had to save funding to get shells to help with acoustics and projection. We were lucky when the seating in the auditorium was replaced. Twenty chairs were broken and the rest were falling apart before the school finally agreed to replace them. The trips that the sports teams took were completely funded by the school, but any trip the arts wanted to take for education purposes, the students had to raise money and we couldn't use the school buses like the sports teams. Our teachers had to pay for separate transportation. I could go on, but it's just ridiculous.
