This would completely ruin my family, as my mother and I are the only ones that work in my household (my brother is lazy). All her money goes towards bills/mortgage and mine goes towards groceries and saving for my tertiary education.

Well, you cant force people with 2 incomes to quit their jobs so I wouldnt worry about it.

This won't happen, they can't make people quit their jobs. We would lose our house without two incomes, we live a very expensive community and very few people here can make it on one income. We've built our lives based on two incomes that doesn't mean we're living beyond our means, that comment just annoys me.

If my husband or I lost one of our jobs we would not make it. One job does not cover everything anymore. We do not have a phone line besides our cellphones, or cable, we only buy the necessities. We have an infant. We barely do anything fun anymore due to a tight budget.  If this idea forced households to give up a second job we would lose our house. We are already living within our means and just squeezing by.

Yeah, I doubt that will ever happen. From what it looks like to me, maybe that's just some random person's opinion, you know.. maybe they have a point. Their opinion is probably based more off their own personal experiences because this wouldn't work for everybody. So, just because someone feels this way, doesn't mean that it's going to happen.
